Contoterzista Day returns to Fabbrico: McCormick confirms its leading role in agricultural mechanisation

Contoterzista Day, the leading event for Italian agricultural machinery companies organised by Edagricole and CAI Agromec, is back for its twelfth edition. Once again, it was hosted by Argo Tractors in Fabbrico, in the province of Reggio Emilia, which also hosted the 2017 edition.

The Emilia-based factory, where McCormick tractors are manufactured, is a symbolic location for the history of Italian agricultural mechanisation in the Motor Valley, an association of which Argo Tractors is a member.

“We are proud to host this important event at our headquarters in Fabbrico,” said Alberto Morra, Managing Director of Argo Tractors, who welcomed all the guests, reminding them that: “For us, Contoterzista Day is a valuable opportunity to discuss and promote innovation, a time to present our technologies and listen to the needs of those who work in the fields every day with professionalism and expertise.”

The morning of the event – attended by over 500 guests – was dedicated to the traditional technical conference, which offered operators an up-to-date overview of the main topics of interest to the sector. Maria Beatrice Mencacci of Ismea opened the conference by illustrating the results of the Innovation Fund for the purchase of new machinery, providing all the figures for the MASAF tool and outlining its impact on agricultural machinery companies.

Alessio Bolognesi, Technical Officer – Digital Agriculture at FederUnacoma, then took the floor, focusing on the implications of the Data Act coming into force and addressing the issues of precision farming, data management and cybersecurity in supply chains involving contractors, manufacturers and dealers.

Next, Paolo Gay from the University of Turin explored the importance of sustainable innovation in agricultural machinery and the strategic role of agromechanical companies in driving this technological transition, particularly with the electrification of tools, citing the virtuous case of REX4 Energy and Caffini Zephiro.

The floor was then given to Mario Danieli, Country Manager Italy at Argo Tractors, who shared the company's vision for the future of agricultural machinery and the new challenges facing the sector.

‘Argo Tractors recognises innovation as the driving force behind progress. For this reason, every year we invest in cutting-edge products and production processes, a commitment that allows us to anticipate market challenges, integrate the latest digital solutions and improve the efficiency of our machines.’

During the morning, a video message from Alessio Mammi, Regional Councillor for Agriculture, was shown, and speeches were given by Roberto Ferrari, Mayor of Fabbrico, Davide Bergamini, member of the XIII Agriculture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Maria Teresa Maschio, President of FederUnacoma, Andrea Borio, President of FederAcma, and Roberto Rinaldin of Climmar.

The closing remarks were given by Gianni Dalla Bernardina, President of Cai Agromec:

“We would like to thank the Morra family and Mario Danieli for hosting Contoterzista Day for the second time at their factory. This national event is reserved for contractors, demonstrating once again their strong commitment to the trade union issues affecting this sector. Thanks also to the important presence of the agricultural mechanics themselves, who arrived representing around 500 companies from all over the peninsula to demonstrate their interest in increasingly discussing issues that consolidate the role of companies serving an increasingly high-quality agricultural sector."

The conference concluded with a show by comedian Paolo Cevoli, who arrived on board a McCormick tractor and won applause and smiles from the entire audience with his charm.

In the afternoon, guests visited the Argo Tractors factory, where they got a close-up look at the company's production processes and technologies, before moving on to the test track, where various high- and medium-power McCormick models were available for them to try out. The star of the show was the new X8.634 VT-Drive, equipped with a 340 hp FPT N67 6-cylinder engine, continuously variable transmission, 212 l/min hydraulic capacity and advanced electronics designed for precision farming. The Clever Cab integrates driver assistance systems and connectivity dedicated to telematic and agronomic data management, confirming its status as a benchmark for those seeking performance, efficiency and innovation.
